Licensing and Installation Support

Starting with version 8.5, Origin provides a Built-in Deactivation Feature under the Help menu, for users to deactivate their license from a computer and activate it on a new computer. This feature provides easy management of node-locked licenses to the customer, with or without a valid Maintenance plan, and never expires. For cases where a computer is not accessible and the built-in deactivation tool cannot be used, please see our support policy below.

If the computer with your Origin license cannot be accessed and support is needed to transfer your license to a new computer:

  • With Maintenance, users receive priority support on all versions of Origin and System Transfer requests are performed within 1 business day.

  • Without Maintenance, System Transfer requests are handled based on the version of Origin (See Table for Support End Date):
    • If the version is still supported, the transfer is complimentary and will be done within 7-10 business days.
    • If the version is no longer supported, a one-time transfer fee will be applied, and will be done within 7-10 business days. Please Contact Sales.

NOTE : Customers can always use the Built-in Deactivation Feature within Origin (version 8.5 and newer) to transfer their license to a new computer themselves. The Support End Date in the table above applies to cases where a customer cannot access their licensed computer and support is required from OriginLab to transfer a license.
