Origin is a native Windows software application. To run Origin or OriginPro on a Mac, you can use virtualization software as outlined below.
Mac Viewer Option: Looking to just view files? OriginLab offers a free Native Mac Version of the Origin Viewer (standalone, no installation required).
Use it on macOS 10.10 or newer to view Origin files, copy data, and export publication-quality graphs and layout pages as PNG or PDF.
Running Origin on Mac via Virtualization
Origin runs on Apple Silicon via Parallels Desktop paired with Windows 11 ARM (Microsoft-authorized).
Origin's standard x86-64 architecture runs under Windows 11's built-in Prism emulation engine, providing seamless performance for data analysis, matrix operations, and high-density graphing.
Note: Origin will also work on legacy Intel-based Macs using standard virtualization.

(Note: Boot Camp is only available on older Intel-based Macs. Options like CrossOver or Wine are not recommended by OriginLab.)

Steps to Install Origin on Mac
- Install Parallels Desktop (or your preferred virtualization tool) on your Mac.
- Follow the virtualization software prompt to install Windows 11.
- Launch the Windows virtual environment, download the Origin/OriginPro installer, and complete the standard Windows installation.
