This graph demonstrates the validation of a mathematical model of a pedestrian involved in a traffic collision. Initially, a study with a specimen cadaver was conducted. The trajectories of the head, thorax, pelvis, knee joint and ankle joint were obtained from high-speed film. For comparison, the dynamic responses of a mathematical model were also collected. Blue circles in the graph represent the overall kinematics with time-step of 40 ms, whereas the red triangles are the simulation results. The impacting vehicle is traveling from left to right (not presented in the graph).
