Calculate the uncertainty of a function based on variables' uncertainties.

Description:

Purpose
This app can be used to calculate the error of a function given the errors of variables, including real and complex numbers.

Notes:It needs Embedded Python and GTC library.

Installation

  1. Download the Propagation_of_Error.opx file, then drag-and-drop onto the Origin workspace.
  2. The App will start downloading dependent Python libraries. Wait a few minutes until the download is completed and restart Origin.

Operation

  1. Click the App icon to open the dialog.
  2. Select Real or Complex for Input Type and choose input datasets.
  3. Enter formula into equation edit box.
  4. Click Compute button to show results.
  5. Click OK to output results to worksheet.

Notes: For real number, you can also use Monte Carlo simulation to calculate error. For complex number which has real and imaginary parts for value and error, specify columns of real and imaginary parts for each input subrange.

Sample OPJU File
This app provides a sample OPJU file.  Right click the App icon in the Apps Gallery window, and choose Show Samples Folder from the short-cut menu. A folder will open. Drag-and-drop the project file PropagationOfErrorSample.opju from the folder onto Origin. The Notes window in the project shows detailed steps.
Note: If you wish to save the OPJU after changing, it is recommended that you save to a different folder location (e.g. User Files Folder).
