For Text object

Unit

The Units drop-down list offers both absolute and relative units.

Absolute Units for Horizontal and Vertical
inch, cm, mm, pixel, point, scale

Absolute Units for Horizontal and Vertical

scale When this unit is selected, the label position is corresponding to the axis scale. It will be changed when axis scale is changed.
 % of Page

When this unit is selected, the Horizontal and Vertical text box values are in percentage of the graph page height and width.

 % of Layer

When this unit is selected, the Horizontal and Vertical text box values are in percentage of the layer height and width.

Anchor

Specify the anchor point on the object in this drop-down list.

For example, if choose Left-Top as Anchor, then the left-top point of the object will be moved to the position of the specified Horizontal and Vertical value.

Note:

  • When the unit selection is changed in the drop-down list, Horizontal and Vertical text box values are automatically updated so that the object retains the same size and position.

Anchor on Text Frame

Specify the anchor point is on the frame. (The text object frame can be customized in Frame tab)

If there is no frame in the object, whatever this check box to be checked, the anchor will on the edge of the text.

If there is a frame in the objext and check this box, the anchor will on the edge of the frame.

Horizontal and Vertical

Specify the value of horizontal or vertical offset.
If check the No Horizontal Movement/ No Vertical Movement check box, the object will be prevented to drop for horizontal or vertical movement.

For Annotation object

In the Postion tab of Annotation object, use the following options to change the object connect data point.

X Value Choose the X Value option and enter the X value in the text box. Then the Annotation object is connectted to the data point according to this x value, and the text is updated according to this data point.
Point Index Choose the Point Index option and enter the index of the data point in the text box. Then the Annotation object is connectted to the data point according to this index, and the text is updated according to this data point.
Min Y Click this button to move the Annotation object to connect to the data point with minimum Y value, and the text is updated according to this data point.
Max Y Click this button to move the Annotation object to connect to the data point with maximum Y value, and the text is updated according to this data point.

Beginning with Origin 2017, you can drag annotation labels from point to point. Click the Pointer Button Pointer.png button, press the ALT key and use the cross-hairs to drag the label to another data point.

Offset

Unit The Units drop-down list offers both absolute and relative units for the offset.
Text Anchor Specify the anchor point on the object in this drop-down list.

If check the Anchor on Text Frame check box, the anchor point is on the frame. (The text object frame can be customized in Frame tab)

Horizontal / Vertical Specify the value of horizontal or vertical offset.

If check the No Horizontal Movement / No Vertical Movement check box, the object will be prevented to drop for horizontal or vertical movement.
