The Command Window

The Command Window supplements the Script Window of previous versions. Like the Script Window, the Command Window can be used to issue LabTalk commands to Origin, to do simple mathematical calculations, or to check the value of LabTalk variables. In addition, the Command Window has some features that the old Script Window did not, the most significant being a time-stamped command history that can be carried over from session to session.

The Command Window is dockable and has two panels. The left-hand panel displays the command history, while the right-hand panel provides the command line. Both panels have their own right-click shortcut menus. For instance, in the left panel, you can highlight a group of commands from the history list and then execute those commands or, alternately, save the commands to a separate .OGS file. The right-hand panel is capable of taking input or output and, like the left-hand panel, can be cleared or saved to a separate file (in the case of the right-hand panel, a .TXT file). The right-hand or command line panel also has an Auto Complete feature that can be turned on or off.
