The Origin worksheet can store various types of information apart from the usual text and numeric data.
Objects can be stored in worksheet header rows and in worksheet data rows (see the picture below).
| Object | Comments |
|---|---|
|
arrow |
Useful for annotating worksheets. |
|
graph |
There are two ways to store the graph -- either as an object that is wholly contained in the worksheet cell or as a graph image that is dynamically linked to a graph window in the project file. |
|
images |
Insert an image from files (.JPG, .BMP, .GIF, etc.) using a shortcut menu command or paste from the Windows Clipboard . |
|
notes |
The inserted note has the qualities of a Notes window except that the worksheet cell note does not exist as a separate window. |
|
sparklines |
A sparkline is a simplified line plot of a column of worksheet data, minus graph axes and labels -- into any worksheet cell (it is also possible to display sparklines in worksheet column heading). As is the case with the inserted graph, the sparkline is annotatable and is dynamically linked to its supporting data. |
|
info variables |
Info variables -- variables stored in the worksheet's binary storage area -- can be inserted into a worksheet cell, either as static values or as a linked value. When inserted as a linked value, a cell value is updated as the value of the linked variable changes (as, for instance, upon importing a new data file). The ability to link Origin worksheet cell contents to variable values, to values in other Origin workbook cells or to other graph windows, can be used in various ways to automate routine tasks and to generate reports. |
